I found Judge Fletcher's opinion in Thompson v. Calderon truly amazing. She states that the 9th Circuit is "proud" of their institution. If I was on a court that got reversed by the Supreme Court on a approx. 75% basis, I would be embarrassed, not "proud." Ultimately, Thompson will be reversed and another case down the tubes for the 9th Circuit.

Quite frankly, I'm a little weary of the masses that continue to castigate the 9th Circuit for what they purport to be a high Supreme Court reversal rate. Proctor Hug, the Chief Judge, put it matter of factly: by setting out numbers that show the huge majority of cases decided by the 9th Circuit, that stand on their merit. I consider Judge Fletcher as one of the stalwarts of the 9th Circuit, and the Circuit itself as holding its own. I have a personal gripe myself against certain judges of the Circuit. But that does not mean I would trash the entire 9th Circuit Court.
